central wisconsin | I think you are thinking about this backwards. You need to prevent the silt from getting in the pond to begin with. Look up a dewatering bag or dewatering filter, you are going to probably need a custom size for your situation. The bag will filter and catch the silt before it enters the pond, and is easy to remove without rebuilding a rock wall. They also make filter materials that work the same way, but can be contained in a square container/concrete retainer. Centrifugal pumps need priming/foot valves and are a whole other animal. I would stick with what you have for a pump and fix the actual problem at the source. | |
