NW Missouri | You're absolutely right.
On a lighter note, I have been going to JH basketball games this month, so this is fresh on my mind. I live in an area of small school districts, and nearly always they play a recording of the national anthem instead of having it performed live. Everyone stands and faces the flag with our hands on our hearts as we've been conditioned to do since we were little, to show respect to our flag and country. But what gets me is the applause after the recording quits playing. Applause is supposed to be for the person who performed. I always applaud if someone performs the anthem live, but I think it's idiotic to clap for a song that has been played from a speaker, and I refuse to do it. | |
