South Central MN | I think most vehicles have some sort of interlock where you cannot shift into park while moving, (to prevent idiots from wrecking the transmission..) don't know if the parking brake was tried or not although they aren't designed to stop a moving vehicle either but could help slow it down.
Turning the key off going down a hill would just make things worse as the steering also gets harder with the engine off.
Most vehicles have either the front and rear brakes on two separate sets of lines, or 1 back and 1 front diagonal from one another so if one line springs a leak you still have some brakes to stop with, but something else could have happened where none of them worked. | |
