SE SD | yep thats what you get with 1018. we use a ceramic .015 r 4305 insert at work on cnc machines and get a very nice finish on 1018, 12l14, 86l20 soft metals. I can try to remember to get the insert number. In my farm shop if i want a nicer finish i just polish with a roloc surface conditioning disc on a die grinder. harder materiel makes for a nicer finish if you can cut it. edit your speeds and feeds seem reasonable for a manual lathe. spin it faster if anything
