Pittsburg, Kansas | Many years ago when we sold fire wood, mostly for decorative fireplace burning and not much for heating, ash was the preferred wood by most customers. Lights and burns easily, doesn't stink when it gets wet like pin oak, bark is usually not messy inside. Generally splits relatively easy, even huge tree trunks.
Not the heaviest wood so not exceptional BTU's but not bad.
I cut it for my MIL for cold weather use in her wood cook stove. Short 15" and split in small chunks.
