My mom used to make syrup , a cup of brown sugar, cup of white sugar and cup of water, It was very good! Of course bring it to a boil!
Maybe add butter. When I tried many recipes, syrup being one, I recall butter being an ingredient to make it richer. I think Mrs. buttersworth syrup name implied butter use.
