After having them for a couple of weeks, I noticed that one of them was turning green. Today, I noticed that another one is turning green and the green is appearing in a diamond pattern. Can anyone explain what is going on with my pumpkins? Picture is of three of the pumpkins. All were orange when purchased.
How warm is the area where these are being displayed? I agree with the mesh bag imprint being the source of the pattern. We ship ours in waxed boxes, but I could see them sold in small mesh bags. The greening is most likely unique to this variety. There are several different "mini" pumpkins. Jack-B-Little, Jill-B-Little, Munchkin, etc. Never seen this in the variety that we grow. They tend to turn orange, stay that way for a while, start to wrinkle as they lose moisture, then rot. They do usually last 3-6 months. No real telling how old they are if bought from a store. |
