Subject: RE: Colonoscopy

sw ontario
Wife just had her first one ,65 yrs. old.
As my Dad developed colon cancer at 78 the Dr. recommended all of us boys get one . Dad died at 81 from non-hodgins lymphopia

So had first one around 2004 and had cancerous polyp removed, Dr. recommended cutting out that part of bowel and reattaching. I opted for second opinion as wife worked in OR and worked with a highly respected surgeon who did many colon cancer operations. He looked at lab report and said cancer was contained in that polp and recommended just keep getting regular scopes.

Our family has cancer history as I did have melanoma removed behind my ear....Also had rutured appendix

Dr. says you are lucky to be alive . I never thought much about it but 50 yrs. earlier I wouldn't be around.

Between Drs. & wife being 35 yrs. in burn unit & OR I take there advice. Of course its still a peronal choice
