. But is it always a good idea for everyone over a certain age?
Everyone is able to choose their own medical care.
This is a medical ethics and operandi question that has complex answers. A few years back a governmental nominee (couldn't find article) was questioned on an article he wrote that made the argument for palliative care only after age of 70. No tests, no procedures, simply quality of life and pain management. The author made the point of declining positive long term outcomes relative to procedure cost and pain. I don't agree with that, but the experience with a younger doctor leads me to wonder if that thought process is seeping into the medical system. |
