Processed food tends to have a lot of salt. Dietary guidelines have discouraged salt consumption. When a person drops most processed foods from the diet and replaces them with more meat they may be significantly lowering their salt consumption without realizing it. A ketogenic diet tends to need more salt than a high carb diet because of the way the body retains more fluid with carbs.
