We have them.

As someone said ours are a backup if the power goes out (we have Geothermal heat).

It will get turned on a few times a year for "looks" ..... seems it's around the Christmas season when we have a fire.





Is the heat not more pleasurable to be around than your geo? Our fireplace is probably in the coldest area of the house.



No, the geo keeps the whole house at an even temperature.

The fireplace is in the living room and so is the thermostat, if the fireplace is on the living room gets hot quickly.

If there is no power outage the fireplace is on for short time to look at.
