E. CO, exactly half way between NE and OK | I have two totes, I have tomato plants in them this year. I put about 8" of coarse gravel in the bottom to hold water. I put a 3" pvc pipe in one corner that goes down to the gravel so I can add water and see how much water is in the gravel. Than I fill the tote up with good soil about 20" from the bottom. I try to keep the gravel full of water and water the soil on top as needed. I can't believe how much the water in the gravel leaves. Most of my garden is over in the field by a wind mill. |
