Subject: Update to JD 4430 with a bad motor

I posted about my JD 4430 having a knock in the motor and possibly overhauling it. After we got it out of the tractor, we took the pan, rod caps, and main caps off. The oil had a nice metallic shine to it, The bearings had worn thru 3-4 layers of material. The crank may need to be replaced.  At that point we decided to purchase a used engine 466 from an early 7720. Heard the engine run and it sounds good. We took the pan off and checked the bearings. They seem decent.

Got to thinking about doing an overhaul on the engine since we are there to give some longevity to the engine. What overhaul kit would NAT recommend? One from John Deere or aftermarket?

Thanks, Jim
