Subject: RE: Cleaning a bin for non-GMO corn

Central Indiana
We leafblow the entire bin towards the door then use a shop vac to suck up all the fines and loose corn. Use it in the grain sumps as well. Around here non gmo stipulations were 97% clean to be accepted I believe. That would mean 30bu of GM corn has to be in a 1000 bu semi load to be rejected. That would take an awful lot of corn left in the bin to contaminate the load. I’d be more worried about cross pollination from the neighbor than the grain bin. Just get all the loose grain out of everything including combine and send it down the road. We have to be cleaner for our non gmo beans and never have anything under 99%. Of course beans are harder to get cross pollination than corn but I wouldn’t sweat the bin too much imo
