Quite common to apply 250 plus.. so many years we lose Nitrogen to weather and if you wait till you see it, you missed it imho. On the other hand, in a hot dry year we can get by with less, but you just never know here. I’ve started doing multiple applications to try and thread the needle on the issue. We heavy clay soils with CEC’s of 30 and yea it’s just a challenge. We cap out at around 240 BPA on irrigated corn with a range of 190 in a wet year to 240 in a perfect year.
