Subject: Cover crop after soybeans?

I have some 2.8 soybeans that I think will come off sept 20-25 or so. Next year will be corn. I’d like to plant something to help with erosion over winter. Is it too late for oats? Radish? How about something to fix nitrogen for next year? Is there enough growing time that a legume could pay its way? If so, which one? We have used rye in the past, and it does green up and help with erosion, but I think there’s better things for the corn crop the next year.
