Subject: Storing potatoes

NEIA
Online they say ideal temperature is around 50 to 55. They also say not to put them in a fridge, as it is to cold. I have a older fridge I plugged in and set the temperature up. It is now 57 in it. I'm pretty sure the light goes out when the door is closed. Would this work? I can set it a little lower to hit the sweet spot. Our basement doesn't get cold enough or totally dark. I know they have climate controlled warehouses they store them in. We have a mess of potatoes this year.
