I could never understand the trade in value argument.
People will pay XX% more upfront saying it’s worth more when they will trade it in.
You are paying for your trade when purchasing it.

I hear what you are saying. But there was some validity to the JD resale argument 30+ years ago when everybody but JD went bankrupt, was bought out, or merged and dealers dried up. Our JD 4640 and 8820 combines still had way better resale value after the 80s and didn’t cost much more to buy then competing brands at the time they were new. We were mostly Massey in the 70s and started to switch to JD/Versatile 79’ to 81’.
