Thanks for sharing that. I had suspected a problem with those bolts. Possibly some one on here had told me to check them. Did you buy your 48" deck kit new from JD? Do you remember what it cost?

I have also come to the conclusion that I need the engine running fairly fast before engaging the clutch.  That really goes against the way I think about it because that surely stresses the belt more. Catching on that bolt does make sense though as they are close. I am thinking I thought it was the bolt on the other side so I guess I need to study it closer and see.



bought it new from Deere dealer, came with the 2 belts, one from the engine to a jack shaft on the deck then a much shorter deck drive belt, uses all the current mounting brackets on tractor.
cost was about $1100
