Michigan | I have been doing battle against this for the last year. Not sure I'm winning but some things have helped....
-shoes make a difference, I discovered that I have been wearing the wrong size (too small) shoes. I just invested in some Keen work boots and orthotics--they seem to be helping. It's worth going to a really good shoe store with people that know what they are doing. I have a pair of hiking boots that will put me in complete misery within a half mile of walking. It gets expensive, but try a bunch of stuff as everyone is different.
-I've had mixed results with physical therapy. Seems like this is more of a long-term solution, not a quick fix. But, they did tape my ankle/arch and that really did help for a few days each time they did it.
-Stretching, especially my calves, seems to make a difference
-I haven't tried the night sock yet, that's next on my list.
Also, does anyone get a feeling in their foot/calf like they are wearing a compression sock even though you are barefoot? Sort of a tight band feeling? Lately I don't have as much of the acute pain but more of this "tight" sensation. | |
