ECIL
My wife had a severe case in both feet for 18 months. At one point she couldn't walk 2 blocks because of the pain. She did everything short of cortizone shots and surgery. Here is what she thought was most effective in order:
1. Wear orthotic inserts that provide good arch support.
2. Stretch your feet every couple of HOURS. She did stretches against the wall--Stood on her toes while using the wall for balance and did calf stretches. Downward dogs on the floor were also good. Stretch immediately after getting out of bed in the morning.
3. Went to a chiropractor a couple times a week for 6 months. He adjusted her feet.
4. Wore braces to bed on both feet for a year.
5. In the first couple months did electric stimulation. That provided short term relief. But didn't stop the pain.
6. Stopped high impact exercise for 3 months.
7. Stayed off her feet as much as possible and tried not to gain weight.

Unfortunately she thinks the biggest reason the pain is gone in both feet is time-a long time, for her 18 months. The first 4 things listed combined with time is what she feels made her recover. She now plays tennis 4 times a week and can walk long distances, but continues wearing orthotics and stretching faithfully.
