Subject: RE: Life after dairy farming

Ludington/Manistee MI area

You could job hop till your an old man and not find something that compares to farming.  I didn’t dairy myself but spent every second I could from the time I was a toddler till  the cows went when I was 15 on my grandparents dairy.   Now uncle and I have about 100 head of cattle and between row crops and hay cover 1300 acres.   I also work in a chemical plant the role I’m in now was something that at one time was very sought after and only guys at the top of the seniority list did.  Its still a very very good gig as long as stuff gets done management is happy  and 20% of my responsibilities are  outside the plant.   But I use all but a couple days of my vacation from work farming.  In a lot of respects I have the best gig in the plant but I can’t wait to go home each day and farm.
