Thats what we though intially as well but you can visually see the gauge wheels are making good contact with the dirt in the tractor tracks. We have really mellow soil here being sandy loam and also when its bone dry there shouldn't be any compaction on this soil type from the tractor. It also shows on our banded and pre-worked ground which are easy to get into. As soon as openers are lifted at the headlands you can tell that the wings wheels also cause a lack of emergence on any seeded rows they run over. I will see if I can uplaod some pictures later, the crop is starting to grow fast now and fill in the mistakes, so hopefully it still shows good enough.
