Cedar Rapids, Iowa | Do you advertise somewhere offering this service? If not, seems a bit weird that they'd contact you to do this rather than having one of their own drivers handle it.
I'd look at it like an adventure, but be aware you could be in for a surprise when you get to the truck. Cab might be a filthy mess, or possibly something wrong with the truck making it not legal to drive until fixed. Have to be ready for anything. I'd be pretty thorough doing a pre-trip on it.
The going rate for CDL-A drivers seems to be $250-500 per day. I'd figure it at 2 days if the truck is in working order. If you have to wait a day for tires or whatever, do you want to be paid for that? Omaha to Chicago should be an 8 hour drive. I-80 is the route I'd go. Construction isn't bad, no bad bottlenecks. | |
