Subject: RE: Suggestion on approach to absentee landlord

NW Missouri
I had a similar situation with a different outcome. Told a neighbor if he ever decided to sell a farm that laid next to ours, I'd sure be interested. I thought there was a chance he might swap it out someday for something closer to his main farm. A couple years later I saw it was going to sell at auction. I wished he would've contacted me first, but said nothing. I was lucky and ended up getting it bought for about the same price I would have offered if he'd approached me to start with, so I guess it all worked out.

Seems to me like telling someone you're interested in buying/renting down the road doesn't usually do much good.
