Very interesting thread. IIRC my g grandfather came to Mn in the late 1800’s. My granddad and his wife had a dairy farm between Rushford and Winona Mn. Mom was the youngest of 7 kids. She said that all her years at home everybody still spoke German even though they had learned English.
Don’t know much about dad’s side as it seems like they were a Heinz 57 group
