Have you observed him being slow and inefficient or just taking the word of your foreman? Could there be a personal issue between them that would generate a negative review of the new guy?
To be honest, I wish someone would have knocked some sense into me twenty years ago not to jump in and out and up and down off equipment like the world depended on speed and nothing else.
