Subject: At Least it didn't "up and die"

Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn.
I had to laugh at the "up and quit" terminology. My Dad used to refer to someone's unexpected death as "up and died". I questioned Dad about the "up" part. I asked if the person was sitting down and stood up and died? Dad said now days everyone has to die of a reason so its someones fault. He said in the old days, a guy could just "up and die" without having to blame someone else. I still don't know where the "up" came from. I suspect it might have meant unexpected. Dad like many people was good at not really answering the question.
