It is a 25x65. We have put it up too wet the previous 2 years so it was kind of hard on the unloader. Grandad put it up in the late 70's and other than once that I know of we have always put haylage in it. That time was so we could fill with corn silage to put on a new roof. For us it makes the most sense because we never have enough in 1 cutting to fill a silo and we have only really done a lot of bags for the last 15 or so years. We are just not big enough for bunkers. Still using the Goliath II I think although the last time our dealer rebuilt it in there shop it hasn't been the same since. The chains and hooks are what ever they use. They say we would have less trouble with a 20 ft but I think a lot of it is the lack of experience from the dealer.

There is a huge variety of hooks on the market. Almost anything will work in some feeds, but only a few will work good in haylage.

I am always looking for a better hook set! Currently I am having good luck with the Samurai hooks from QPI.

I am testing a different hook set from Northline, but it is not working as well. I already lost all the bottom hooks. I replaced those broken hooks with QPI hooks and it is running better. But the rest of the hooks are dull and do not self sharpen like the Samurai hooks.

I am also testing a hook set from Greenwood called Samson hooks. They look very similar to the Samurai. So far they are doing well.

If you could email me the name of your dealer, I would love to know which hook set to avoid. Or post a picture of the hooks and I might be able to guess who created them.
