Unfortunately there are a lot of producers in similar circumstances. Was talking to someone this morning and discussing the options. Some are weaning really young calves and culling cows hard or selling them completely. There really isn't any reasonably priced feed. And even if you had it, it would be hard to pencil putting it into cows. Some thought of liquidating now and buying back later to save feed. But in that case, timing will be everything. And it is not like it starts raining one day and the drought is over, a lot of pastures are in very bad shape. But mostly the stress level is very high. Given the age of many producers, this may be the end of their carrier in the cattle business for quite a few.
