scmn | I am no hydraulic expert but if demanded flow was greater than gpm pumped would not the pressure decrease?
Correct, but the decrease in pressure is of no concern since priority valves will starve the lowest priority flow first. This is a saturated flow condition which puts the pump at full stroke at which point the drop in pressure is immaterial since the pump then operates like a fixed displacement gear pump where motor load sets the pressure. When operating at less than full flow the compensator destrokes the pump to match required flow once it reaches the maximum allowable operating pressure; the only reason there is high pressure on the PFC system is because it is artificially induced to cause the pump to destrop. |
