Subject: RE: Driving on new seeding alfalfa

Thunder Bay, Ontario, Great White North

I've got the same scenario as you, going to grab the last of the stones tomorrow and then hit the field with a heavy land roller to smash the stones we missed flat.

Have done similar in the past, have rolled barley with alfalfa when everything was emerged and barley was 2-3 leaf, alfalfa the first few trifoliates and never noticed any issues.

I suspect the other commenters may have a different soil type than I do, a nice sandy loam here with unfortunately quite a number of rocks included to keep us honest.

Leaving the rocks is not an option here, I have an aversion to destroying disc mowers.
