Certainly no expert but...it looks to me like the first name is in quotes. So makes me think it could be a nickname. At first I was thinking they were periods and the first name was an abbreviation but it sure looks to me like they are quotation marks but placed at the bottom of the letters instead of the top. If it's a nickname who knows what it might be. I think first letter is definitely a C. Second letter looks like an r but it doesn't really look like the other r's in Miller and Fairfield. I am wondering if it's a t. I found some examples in a google where the small t sometimes looks different when beginning a word.
