Holland, Indiana (SW IN) | Enjoyed reading the spirited conversation about cover crops and raising a cash crop day or so ago
We have been working with CC for years — keep changing my mind as to what CC I like best, how thick, when to plant, how to seed — every year is different
So to my question last fall spread chicken high house litter (4 ton- 180# of N) on acres and planted annual rye grass
ARG loved the N we killed the ARG and planted corn got a great stand
SO when can we expect the decomposing grass to give N to the corn crop
I know we got a huge boost in biomass BUT trying to put $ numbers on 180# of N —- I know spread in the spring but take litter when we can get it
Dan
More pics all ARG some deader than others but big smile from me looks like it will work :-)
Edit to add the CC and cash crop conversation-don't know how to do a link ----"HELP" ---we need these discussions
"cover crop concerns about cash crop" was the post day or two back
