Subject: RE: Rural Internet Policy

They have plans. That's nice.

Right now, I just popped $600 and change for a Starlink base station, and pay $110/month and I've got most of what they're yammering about. Now. Today.

I've helped install wireless ISP infrastructure here in Wyoming and in Nevada. The FCC has no idea what they're talking about, and they won't, because they have no idea what the challenges are in the most rural areas of the US. The physical constraints make most ISP efforts unprofitable at "reasonable" prices, and most rural towns aren't going to have fiber to the backbone anytime soon, never mind someone local to help people with ISP issues when something goes wrong.
