Ludington/Manistee MI area | Few years ago the ferry extended their season later into the fall to ship windmill blades to I believe the thumb. It was cheaper to pay the Badger to sail a couple more weeks than to go through Chicago. Not uncommon for a handful of van body or reefers on each sailing. Back in the day to common to see 2-3 Brillion iron works trucks rolling coal headed east just after it arrived from the night sailing. Wife did bid work for road contractor when we got married her boss did work on the Appleton area they shipped a milling machine across. Few times she had to meet the boat to gets parts over for the guys. |
