Subject: Glyphosate and Triticale Burndown

Cen Ks
We sometimes plant triticale in the fall for winter pasture. The triticale is sprayed out in spring after cattle are shipped & beans planted soon after. Why is triticale so slow to respond to Glyphosate? The field across the road was planted to cereal rye for winter grazing also; the rye and triticale were sprayed about the same time. The rye is almost completely white 5 days after spraying glyphosate, the triticale is still deciding if it wants to dye or not. I had this happen several years ago, I assumed it was because we should have had more regrowth before spraying. That is not the case this year. The cattle were removed in mid January and the triticale had lots of regrowth by spring. Does anybody have experience with spraying out triticale? The interesting difference between these 2 forage crops is leaf size; rye has a narrow, skinny leaf and triticale has a very wide leaf. Any opinions what we should do different? TIA
