First off, I don't know iGrade, as I sell another system. But slope % is always mathematically going to be rise over run. (rise divided by run. and remember that if you do it on a calculator that % means to x100). So a 1% slope is 1' of rise over 100'. (1/100=0.01x100=1%) Or 1 Meter rise over 100 Meters. Or 1 inch over 100 inches, all 1%.
In most cases, that is a lot of slope. I would agree that 1% = 1.000% on a laser setup.
I think you are thinking of 0.1% slope, which is 0.1' over 100'. 1/8"=0.125'. So if you wanted exactly 1/8" per 100', it would be 0.125%
I am not sure how your software wants this entered. A way to test, would be to set at 0.1%. Note the elevation that is says is "on grade". Now drive as close as you can to 100' in the up slope direction. The "on grade" elevation should now be reading 0.1' higher. You will quickly see if it wants you to be 1' higher, or only 0.01'.
