MO | We had a drill population mix up a few years ago and planted around 80k when we were shooting for 140k. We left it and it yielded no different than our neighboring field that was planted at 140k.
Our neighbor last year had a very poor stand initially due to crusting. Turned out wet and he wasn’t able to replant until 4 weeks later or so. He just planted into the existing stand of beans at a lower rate and left the original stand alone. Not sure how it yielded exactly but he said he was happy with how it worked after harvest. His beans looked good during season as well.
Both growing years from above were fairly forgiving as far as adequate moisture in the summer, so maybe keep that in mind. | |
