Southwest Illinois | If it is on good ground I would leave them alone. We had 80 acres get a hard rain after planting and had lots of broken necks. We had stand counts from 30 to 110K. Our average was around 70k. By the time we could replant or spot in the weather turned wet and the existing beans were about to shoot out the first trifoliate. These we planted in mid May last year on 125PI ground that had been in corn for 3 years. They yielded as much as the other fields without crusting, though we did throw a bit more chemical at it because the stuff at under 50K takes forever to canopy. | |
