I second a rotary hoe. We ran one in 2019 in stalks combined with a chopping head. I was amazed how much it fluffed all the trash that was matted down, 24hrs after hitting it we were able to VT it and plant. Before that would were getting stuck constantly with the VT. We drove 14-15mph, all the trash and mud flowed just fine. Good luck!
