Anything you can do to improve is to get an improved signal. I've seen SF1 do better this year (on SF6000's) than I have in past years so I'd say I've seen if anything the opposite. 

But as you said it's within the limits of what it was advertised. If you need repeatability then upgraded signal is your answer. Or shift/recenter the line
