Subject: Proso millet and frost

Roggen, CO A mile from 2 counties
I’ve only been planting millet the last few springs and when gramps was alive we never did it. So I’m fairly new to it for the most part. Right now is generally when we all start planting in northeast colorado, and a lot of guys have been. I do the organic thing so I had to work everything I’m planning to plant, but my drill is hooked up today and I Could go tmrw. I see on the forecast that we may have 29 degrees on Friday night. I know that would kill small millet. Last year conditions were ideal and some of mine was up in 2-3 days, which I almost couldn’t believe.

Step dad always tells me not to farm by the weather but in my situation sometimes I have to, not being able to spray. I wanna go plant but I’m afraid it would frost with my luck and I’d have to replant some. Fuel prices make me rethink some things so I don’t burn more than I need to.

What would you do?
