Subject: RE: Brome grass problem

Central Illinois
Cheatgrass is different from smooth bromegrass. Smooth bromegrass is a perennial and can be fairly easily killed with glyphosate although as another poster mentioned it will likely take two applications. Cheatgrass and downy brome are two related species and they are annuals. Those are best killed when young. Once they head out spraying them is just for short-lived revenge but next year they will come back from seed.
