Which filter are you referring too? There are a couple high pressure filters on the hydro ($500 a pop last I changed them) and one in the tank. Not sure I know of any other hydraulic filters.
It almost gave me the same sensation as when a clutch starts slipping. The engine doesn’t pull down but you slow down and it feels odd.
