Reman what kind of compressor? Long black ( A6 ) we’re noted for shearing the rubber mounting on the driven disk of the clutch. You would probably notice the crumbs of rubber etc.

In any case make sure the compressor clutch shaft actually turns with the pulley.

If it has a Nippondenso like the 50 series tractors instead of the original A6, you have to take out 3 screws and loosen 3 to remove the tin cover over the clutch driven disk. They’ll shear out too and you have to remove the cover on the front of the pulley to see it.

If you don’t have or can’t borrow a gauge set, Most autoparts stores sell a recharge kit, an aerosol can with a gauge and hose connector. If nothing else push one of the valve core pins and see if it’s got any pressure in it.
