Eastern Ontario | A few years ago a guy from town bought a farm down the road. He started an animal "rescue" and soon had half a dozen pot bellied pigs. Since he was new to hogs and fencing it didn't take long for the pigs to get over on to our place. We were in the height of calving and the cows did not like the pigs. I watched a fresh cow who was normally kind and gentle grind a 200lb pig into the dirt and then push it around the pasture like a swiffer mop.
There was a real danger for new born calves getting stepped on in the pandemonium of a couple hundred enraged cows chasing the pigs around the pasture and we ended up shooting the pigs. | |
