Bremen, KS | As I recall, and I took my first flights in late 1991, in the US smoking was prohibited on all flights of less than two hours duration. By the mid '90s that was extended to all domestic flights as I recall as by then I was on a couple of 2 hour 20 minutes flights and it was announced that "this is a non-smoking flight". The upshot being that I've only been on domestic US flights and since 1991 they were all non-smoking flights. Canada may well have been different.
