North central MO | 1st of all I think we are about the same age, farm about same amount. Both have a young family and work off farm.
I run cow calf and graze some calfs. You feed Holsteins.
Now no matter how much we want to run cattle or feed I don’t think it’s the future. Look around at all the millions of dollars of livestock facilities setting empty. I think we have to spend are money wisely on stuff that will assist the grain farm in the future. I would not spend the money to put up wet corn storage, build grain bins they will have value after cows r gone. No way I would buy a chopper, buy a combine.
Iam on the fence about tmr to cows this might be the year I have to switch because of high feed costs.
Buy the way my parents moved to Missouri in 1981 from Wisconsin Illinois line milked here till 1996.
