Usually 1500 rpm tractor is about right on grass. Alfalfa i run idle to 1300 rpm based on dryness. usually wait until top half is dry to rake. Alfalfa can be dryer, then rake in morning as dew is coming off. Mow windrows as wide as the tractor will straddle. I love my kune 9 ft single rotor.
